Building Healthy Communities

http://urbact.eu/fileadmin/damwithcat/bhcommunities/logo_bhsmallweb.jpg

Health is important for the wellbeing of individuals and society, but a healthy population is also a prerequisite for economic productivity and prosperity. The Lisbon strategy underlines the importance of health as a key factor for economic growth. However there is a limited awareness of the contributions that a "healthy" urban policy can make to tackle challenges in health. The Building Healthy Communities project proposes to establish a thematic network which aims to capitalise knowledge and practice on urban factors influencing health. It will specifically focus on:

  • Health impact assessment and Urban Health Indicators
  • Active Ageing
  • Use of Structural Funds in developing "health Gains"
  • Healthy Places, Healthy Environments
